About me

     Wilmiriam Cotto Castellano is a Puerto Rican born interdisciplinary artist working in New York City and the Bay Area, California. She specializes in different areas of the arts, focusing mainly on the art of bilingualism, poetry, fiction and photography. She has a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with an enfasis on Creative Writing from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus and an MFA in Creative Writing from New York University. She has worked with local artists and filmmakers in the island of Puerto Rico and New York City.

     Wilmiriam is constantly pushing the boundaries on what is expected of poetry and language by mastering an unparalleled musicality and harmony in her work. She is focused on recording the cultural and idiomatic singularities in Puerto Rican culture through the use of Spanglish and creative non-fiction aspects in her work. She is fascinated by the finer and more intimate details of what comes to form the human experience.
